This facility will be launched in four cities, namely Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Varanasi. The beta test of Jio’s True 5G service will be offered to existing Jio users via invitation only. Customers availing the beta trial of Jio True 5G will get data speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
Users who are invited to participate in the Jio 5G Welcome Offer will automatically be upgraded to Jio True 5G service.– Also, these invitees do not need a new SIM to get 5G services on their 5G-enabled smartphones. — Jio has started working with phone manufacturers to enable Jio 5G on their handsets.
Speaking about the 5G service, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited Chairman Akash Ambani said, “Jio has planned the most ambitious and fastest 5G roll-out plan for our country.”
5G cannot remain a special service for the privileged few or only be available in our largest cities. It should be available to every citizen of India, to every home, and to every business. ” Jio will roll out the 5G beta testing service to other cities as soon as the network is ready to be rolled out on the ground. The beta testing will continue for users until the network coverage in the city is completed. Jio claims that its 5G users will get triple benefits.
Also, the Jio network is built on a stand-alone architecture, which means zero dependency on the 4G network.
Jio also owns a mix of 5G spectrum, which it acquired during the 5G spectrum auction earlier this year. Jio is the only operator with 700 MHz low-band spectrum that promises good indoor 5G coverage. Airtel has already launched 5G in 8 cities, and Vodafone Idea is expected to announce 5G services in India soon.
